We have sampled hundreds of bags of jerky to bring you THE BEST! - The best brands, the best styles, the best flavors & the best varieties Cowboy Dan's Jerky Emporium is a Christian Family owned & operated business. It was started by Dan & Amanda Stephens in 2010. Dan is also known as Cowboy Dan, SASS life member & regulator #295 - hence the business name. In November 2009, Dan was unexpectedly laid off from an executive position. With Summer Break nearing, Dan was still out of work, & after a lot of prayer, we decided to purchase a used RV and take a family road trip around California - we felt it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that we needed to grasp with both hands. We left right after 4th of July, with our 3 children ages 1, 10 & 12, our dog & our pet rat! We traveled California for 7 1/2 weeks, made a lot of memories & had a wonderful time - we also ate a lot of jerky! On returning home, we found there were slim pickin's in the jerky fields - all we could find were a few bags in the local grocery stores, which paled in comparison to those we had sampled during the long summer. We decided to start our own business selling the Best USA Made Jerky we could find. During the next few months, our family sampled 100's of bags of jerky determined to find only THE BEST! and now, as they say, the rest is history! Buy from us with confidence - anyone selling jerky (or any food product) must have a health permit. This ensures they are storing the jerky in an appropriate food storage facility (not in their truck, garage, home, non-food warehouse) and/or handling the jerky appropriately. Do not be afraid to ask to see a vendor/seller's health permit. Our health permit is on display in our retail store.
